Back in December, we informed you about Wreckage, a Single Player Mod for Crysis. Naturally, a lot of gamers could not enjoy it as it demanded the original Crysis game. So good news everyone as Christopher Held has informed us about the release of the standalone version of their mod. This means that you won’t need any installed game to enjoy their little baby and as you may have guessed, it’s a freeware title. MaLDo has been hard at work these past weeks with the latest version of his amazing Texture Pack for Crysis 2. The modder has released some new comparison shots between the latest version of MaLDoHD and the vanilla version of Crysis 2. This time around, MaLDo concentrated in fixing and improving the wall textures. The end result is astounding and we can’t wait to get our hands on this new Texture Pack. Notice also the shadows that are being casted from the leaves in the modded screenshots. As always, the vanilla shots are on the left and the modded shots are on the right. Crytek and Electronic Arts have revealed some new screenshots and artworks for Crysis 3. These new shots showcase the same level that was featured in the first pack of screenshots. What’s really striking here is that the lighting system seems way better than the one used in both Crysis 1 and 2. Crytek has nailed it and Crysis 3’s TOD looks phenomenal. I tell you guys; Crytek should seriously hire MaLDo. After a long break, the modder is back and has introduced some truly amazing new features to the upcoming version of his MaLDoHD mod. The latest version of MaLDoHD will come with a new manhole, a new puddle, parallax on distant buildings and FDR on walls. To demonstrate those changes, the modder has released some shots that can be viewed below. MaLDo has outdone himself and Crysis 2 looks – almost – like a completely new game with his mod. As you can see, CryEngine 3 can push some amazing visuals and we are delighted to see the modders using custom, high-resolution assets, especially for the grass and trees. Ah, Crysis 2. There was so potential after Crysis 1 and Crytek did really f’ it up. PC gamers were expecting a similar experience to the first part of this franchise, but they were let down by their beloved studio. And finally, after this whole time, Crytek decided to reveal that Crysis 2 was made with casual gamers in mind. Which is what we’ve been saying from the get go but… well, at least they admitted it. Fact number 1: both Sapience and Crysis 3 use the latest version of CryEngine 3. Fact number 2: Sapience is a mod for Crysis 2 that comes with unique environments and looks more varied than Crysis 3. Fact number 3: its latest trailer puts to shame the official Crysis 3 trailer. Fact number 4: It looks bloody gorgeous. Fact is that after watching the latest trailer of Sapience, I’m more excited for this Crysis 2 mod than Crysis 3. The team behind it created an amazing trailer and you should definitely have a look at it. Sapience is slated for a 2012 release and we’ll be sure to keep you updated. Enjoy! As promised, Electronic Arts and Crytek have revealed the first gameplay trailer of Crysis 3. This trailer is influenced by Inception, meaning that you’ll get lots of different scenes with extreme montage (and the usual ‘booooom’ ‘boooooom’ bassline in the background) and you won’t be able to fully enjoy the scenery or the art design. From the looks of it, Crysis 3 looks similar to Crysis 2, although the environments have been reworked and look better than before. Crysis modder ‘thib7861’ has released an interesting new map for Crytek’s gem. This map features custom assets and promises to bring James Cameron’s Avatar to CryEngine 2. The map is called ‘My Little Pandora’ and its concept is to bring Fun, non-violent video game that mixes adventure, action, and puts in correlation beautiful music with outstanding environment.
