Weekly CryEngine 3 Gallery [14 – 21 August]

With the release of CryEngine 3’s SDK, we decided to feature a weekly gallery with the best CryEngine 3 shots we’ve encountered. These shots may be simple maps, total conversions or just screenshots from maps that are currently in progress or that may never see the light of day so obviously there is no point in asking for links. CryEngine 3 SDK Demo Environment: Forest Map Video

As we reported earlier this week, Crytek released the CryEngine 3 SDK for free. What we didn’t tell you however was that the company has also included an example map with the SDK, called ‘Forest’. Since a lot of you didn’t download the SDK, here is a video flythrough from this map that was captured by EvilKing13. Remember when Cevat stated that CryEngine 3 SDK would be released in August? Well get ready everyone because Crytek has just announced that they will release their latest all-in-one game development solution CryENGINE 3 free of charge for non-commercial use today. The award winning SDK provides the complete game engine to create AAA quality next generation games for PC, and includes the CryENGINE 3 Sandbox level editor, a production-proven, 3rd generation “What you see is what you play” (WYSIWYP) – tool designed by and for professional developers. Crytek’s Warface Release Date Announced; Comes To Western markets in 2012

Crytek announced today that its free-to-play online FPS Warface – that was previously announced for a release in mainland China – will hit the Western markets in 2012. The CryENGINE 3 powered military shooter with its near future setting marks a major milestone in the studio’s history and provides gamers with a constantly updated extensive PVE universe full of dramatic multiplayer co-op missions, a full set of class based PVP. Warface is designed completely from scratch to support a free-to-play business model and will be available for PC. Warface – Blackwood Teaser Trailer Released

Crytek released a new teaser trailer for their latest upcoming free-to-play first person shooter, Warface. Warface promises to offer a cinematic experience with next gen visuals, AI and physics based on Crytek’s proprietary CryENGINE 3 game development solution. Warface provides gamers with a constantly updated extensive PVE universe full of dramatic multiplayer co-op missions, a full set of class based PVP and will be available for PC. This new Crytek IP is especially dedicated to the Asian markets and is developed by Crytek Kiev and co-produced by Crytek Seoul and Crytek Frankfurt. Crytek is working on a new FPS IP for PC, X360 and PS3

According to the LinkedIn profile of David Ramos, gameplay and animation programmer at Crytek, the company is currently developing a new first person shooter IP for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. EA’s SVP of Global Online fails to explain why Crysis 2 was removed from Steam

When we heard that EA’s and Crytek’s critically acclaimed title was removed from Valve’s distribution service, we wondered whether that was due to the launch EA’s own distribution service, Origin. According to David DeMartini, EA’s SVP of Global Online, Valve won’t let EA to directly manage its relationship with gamers and that’s why Crysis 2 was removed from Steam. MaLDo’s HD Texture Pack version 2.0 for Crysis 2

As we’ve informed you last month, MaLDo released some spectacular textures for Crysis 2. However, that texture pack was compatible only with the 1.1 version of the game and since Crytek has finally released the latest patch which basically unlocks the modding functionality of the game, MaLDo decided to update his pack and make it compatible with Crysis 2’s 1.9 version. With the release of the Sandbox 3 Editor, we kind of expected to see amazing things from Crytek’s community. And they didn’t let us down. Behold the first screenshots of Crysis 2 modded that showcase some breathtaking visuals and open up the gap between current-generation consoles and PCs. If you thought that a high-end PC couldn’t provide far superior graphics than those of X360 or PS3… think again.
