Mod Brings First Person Perspective To Dark Souls

Dark Souls v2
Now this is something cool and weird at the same time. YouTube’s member ‘SOULSLASHA’ is working on a mod for Dark Souls that will let players play it via a first person perspective viewpoint. As the modder suggests, this is a love hate relationship; while it certainly looks cool at times, it will make you dizzy the moment you perform a roll. Still, this is something unique and with some further tweaking, it could very well turn into an interesting mod. Enjoy a video showcasing this mod in action after the jump! Dark Souls Speedrun – Finished In Under 35 Minutes

Dark Souls is considered one of the hardest RPGs, ever. Well, time to get amazed with what some players can achieve. Freddy ‘Thanatos’ Vasquez has managed to complete FromSoftware’s RPG in under 35 minutes. This is an amazing speedrun, and as Freddy described, this run took him 2 weeks of planning and practice. Moreover, the run can be improved by at least 25 seconds, assuming a perfect O&S fight, and assuming the same route is used. Enjoy! Modders Durante and Clement join forces – DSFix 1.5 for Dark Souls PC features a target FPS option

We love modders and we are really happy when we see a collaboration between them. Dark Souls modders Durante and Clement decided to join forces and DSFix 1.5 is the first fruition of this collab. As you may have guessed, the DSFix addresses the internal resolution that was locked – when the game came out – and adds support for SSAO and SMAA. However, this new DSFix also includes an option for those who want to override the game’s locked 30fps option. Dark Souls: Prepare To Die Edition – PC Performance Analysis

Last week we took a look at one of the best console ports of 2012, Square Enix’s Sleeping Dogs. Well, today we are bringing you the worst console port of this year, that is no other than Namco’s Dark Souls: Prepare To Die Edition. It’s really ironic criticizing a game that we got out of nowhere, however Dark Souls PC seems like a quick cash-in and nothing more. It’s true that From Software is not familiar with the PC platform but there is no excuse for what they’re currently offering us. Even if they’re not familiar with our platform, it’s not that hard to remove some console features that were put on purpose. And if you believe that From Software was able to develop a game from scratch and could not find the global values of the on-screen button indicators or the resolution lock mechanism, then you are a fool. Well, NeoGAF user ‘Durante‘ decided to take a look at this game and after 23 minutes, the modder figured out a way to unlock the game’s internal resolution. We should also note that the modder did not have any access to the game’s source code. So kudos to him and boohoo to From Software for not fixing something that would take them a couple of hours.
