DICE details upcoming real-time ray tracing RTX optimizations coming to Battlefield 5
In an interview with Eurogamer, EA DICE’s rendering engineer Yasin Uludag has detailed the optimizations that are coming to Battlefield 5’s real-time ray tracing RTX effects. According to Yasin, performance of the RTX effects will noticeably improve in the future as both NVIDIA and DICE are working on various performance improvements. Battlefield 5 PC Performance Analysis
Battlefield 5 is the first game officially supporting the newly announced real-time ray tracing effects and as we’ve already reported, even NVIDIA’s flagship GPU is unable to offer a smooth gaming experience. Still, and even without these effects, Battlefield 5 is one of the most beautiful games to date. No AMD users, you cannot enable the real-time ray tracing RTX effects on the Vega 64 (or other AMD GPUs)
A couple of hours ago, a rumour arose suggesting that AMD users can enable the real-time ray tracing RTX effects on their GPUs. Guru3D’s member ‘OnnA’ suggested that by enabling three settings, it may be possible to enable the RTX effects that NVIDIA RTX owners can currently experience. And since we’re in the middle of benchmarking Battlefield 5, we’ve decided to test these settings and see whether it’s possible to have any ray tracing reflections on the AMD Radeon RX Vega 64. As we’ve already reported, DICE has enabled the real-time ray tracing RTX effects in Battlefield 5 via its day-1 patch. And while it took us a while, we had to also download the October 2018 update for Windows 10, we were finally able to test these new effects with our NVIDIA GeForce RTX2080Ti. Battlefield 5 day-1 patch adds DXR real-time ray tracing support
Electronic Arts has released the day-1 patch for Battlefield 5 for all platforms. According to the release notes, this first patch adds further improvements to game client stability, resolves an issue which would make the menus unusable when cancelling a matchmaking session and brings support to DXR real-time ray tracing. Battlefield 5 official PC requirements revealed, includes exclusive requirements for NVIDIA’s RTX Tech
Electronic Arts and DICE have revealed the official PC requirements for Battlefield 5. According to the specs, PC gamers will at least need an AMD FX-8350 or an Intel Core i5 6600K with 8GB of RAM and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050/NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 or an AMD Radeon RX 560/HD 7850 graphics card. Battlefield 5 battle royale mode, Firestorm, will be available in Spring 2019
Electronic Arts and DICE have revealed the roadmap for Battlefield 5 and as we can see, its battle royale mode, Firestorm, will be coming out in Spring 2019. In other words, this mode will be delayed by at least four months, allowing Black Ops 4 to win over all those thirsty for a triple-A battle royale game.
