Oh boy, gotta love DICE as they have included one hell of easter eggs in Back to Karkand. So PC gamers, remember when BF2: Armoured Fury was released and there was a subtle advertising for 2142 way before 2142’s first teaser was released. Well guess what we’ve found in one of the maps of Back to Karkand. Yeap, that’s right; a subtle advertising of Battlefield 2143. As you can see bellow, DICE is clearly hinting to it and in case you are wondering, this place is near the jet hangers on the airfield at the Wake Island map. YouTube’s member ‘EvilViking13’ uploaded a new dramatic and cinematic video that shows off the silent beauty of Battlefield 3. EvilViking13 used Dxtory to capture the footage and then edited it with Sony Vegas 10. He also used Twixtor for some of the super-slow motion effects. Moreover, EvilViking13 used the “UI.drawenable false” command to hide his HUD and we bet that some of you will find this command useful as it adds a whole new level to realism. Enjoy! With all the talk about the CryEngine 3, some gamers felt the need to showcase the beauty of the Frostbite 2.0 engine. Well, it’s hard to tell as we’ve seen some pretty amazing maps from the Crysis 2 modding community. Still, Frostbite 2.0 is one hell of an engine and let’s not forget that it will be used to the upcoming sequel of Command & Conquer: Generals. One of the most controversial changes in the latest patch of Battlefield 3 is definitely the rebalanced IRNV. Contrary to the PS3 changes though, the PC changes that were made to the IRNV are quite different. The PC version seems better overall, however you still can’t see – pretty much – anything. Not only that, but there is a crucial bug where the IRNV returns to the pre-patch state when your health drops under a certain point. Now that’s really awesome and we have a video of this bug in action. Enjoy everyone and yeah, DICE stay true to their roots and are introducing new bugs with each and every new patch. Hooray! Admit it, you were a bit jealous that PS3 gamers could witness the fall of the antenna tower in the Caspian Border. And although DICE hadn’t revealed when this feature would pass on the PC version, look and behold as the latest PC patch that was released today features it. Oh yeah, PC gamers can now see the ‘falling antenna tower’ in the Caspian Border map. Moreover, both Battlelog and the PC patch are live right now, with the patch weighting over 3.5GB. DICE added some interesting features and in case you weren’t aware of, Ping is now present in the scoreboard and the chat window has been tweaked and moved to the top left of the screen. Furthermore, Battlelog has now more filter options as PC gamers can filter things like kill cam, vehicles, squad leader spawn. Enjoy some footage of the falling antenna from a PC match after the jump.
In other news, the Back to Karkand Expansion is live now on the PS3 and in order to celebrate its launch, DICE has released a new trailer, featuring explosive PlayStation 3 gameplay from the all-time classic map Wake Island.
Now that’s really hilarious. As you may already know, Battlefield 3 does not properly support VoIP. Yes, you are still able to use it but that’s thanks to Battlelog as DICE’s platform offers this feature and not the game itself. Of course, there are various issues due to this decision and it seems that DICE is not willing to fix them by properly including VoIP support to Battlefield 3. The reason? It’s bad business. Wait what? Continue reading Battlefield 3 – No plans for VOIP PC changes; bad business to properly fix it→
