Digital Extremes has informed us about a new update for its free-to-play third-person title, Warframe, that is currently available to all beta testers. This update adds a new environment, meaning that players will take on enemies on the new Grineer Asteroid Base. In addition, zipline and wall running have been implemented, and two new Warframes – Nyx and Frost – have been added as playable characters. YouTube’s member ‘ChronicExe’ has uploaded the first gameplay footage from Warframe, Digital Extremes’ upcoming futuristic free-to-play third person shooter. Warframe is powered by the Evolution Engine (despite the user talking about CryEngine 3) and is supposedly supporting DX11 features. It looks bloody gorgeous and could very well be the best – visually – free-to-play title to this date. Get ready everyone because this is what a lot of you have been waiting for. Digital Extremes has just informed us about the beginning of the Warframe Closed Beta, meaning that the new Free-to-play, sci-fi action game – from the developers behind Unreal, Dark Sector and The Darkness II – is now in its testing phase. Players will be added to the Closed Beta incrementally over the next several weeks to help improve the game and infrastructure in preparation for the official launch of the Open Beta this winter. Namco has announced that they’ll be showcasing – in full 3D – Star Trek at this weekend’s London event Destination Star Trek London, in a specially build screening room (using Nvidia technology). The publisher will show a gameplay presentation, demonstrating the most varied co-op experience for this console generation from both Spock and Kirk’s unique in game perspective’s. Namco released the teaser trailer for Star Trek: The Video Game. The action-packed combat game is set to launch the first quarter of 2013 prior to the May 17th theatrical release of the next Star Trek installment from director and producer J.J. Abrams and is developed by Digital Extremes. The game, through a license with CBS Consumer Products, is based on a stand-alone storyline that continues the adventure of iconic characters Kirk and Spock as they work together to stop a legendary enemy race bent on conquering the galaxy. Now that was quick. Yesterday we reported about an incoming FOV patch for the PC version of The Darkness 2 and guess what, the patch has been deployed on Steam and is available as we speak. Although we don’t have any release notes about it, we do know that it includes a FOV slider to adjust the in-game field of view.
