Epic Games will launch a new digital store, aiming to rival Steam, GOG and Microsoft’s Windows Store

Epic Games has announced that it will be launching a new digital store, aiming to rival Valve’s Steam, GOG and Microsoft’s Windows Store. Contrary to other stores, Epic Games promises to give developers 88% of the revenues while keeping 12% for overhead. For comparison purposes, Steam keeps 30% so we are looking at a really big difference here. Fortnite surpasses 200 million players worldwide

Epic Games has confirmed that Fortnite has passed 200 million players worldwide on all platforms. This is a phenomenal growth and shows how successful Epic’s title actually is. For instance, the game had 40 million players in January 2018 and in almost a year Epic has managed to increase that number by 160 million players. Simply mind-blowing. Fortnite Season 5 has been launched, full release notes revealed, new cinematic trailer released

Epic Games announced today the launch of Fortnite’s Season 5, and released a new cinematic trailer that you can watch below. Players can drop in now and find all kinds of changes to the Battle Royale map. A Viking ship, desert outpost, ancient statues have appeared on the island, and Moisty Mire has been hit with a drought, bringing with it a brand new desert outpost. PUBG creator decides to drop copyright charges against Epic Games

On Monday the 25th of June PUBG Corp., an organisation affiliated with Bluehole Inc. based in South Korea, officially declared their intention to drop a protracted lawsuit against Epic Games  over allegations of copyright infringement. This comes after Bluehole had opened a court case in January against Epic Games claiming that their battle royale golden goose, Fortnite, had been created as an illegal replica of PUBG.

Fortnite breaks another record, generating $296 million in April across all platforms

SuperData Arcade has shared its monthly report, claiming that Fortnite has broken another record by generating $296 million in April across all platforms. Epic’s free to play game generated $223 million in March, therefore it will be interesting to see whether it will hit $300 million in May.
