Amidst every blockbuster release each year, for some gamers, some titles just don’t stand up to the rest in terms of anticipation. This is maybe either due to a bad first impression from demos or due to the fact that they might be sequels to games that were disappointing. However, some of these games outperform their expectations and are ultimately a finer part of gaming. This personal list is a pick of those games which I believe were not only better than expected but also better than most games that year. Also do note that, these are not in any significant order and are only those that were available on all three major platforms which includes the PS3, PC and Xbox 360. It’s that time of year again. 2013 is almost upon us and promises to be a great year. Well, that is if the Mayan prediction was not accurate enough and the world doesn’t end tomorrow (though we all know that we’ll be just fine and nothing ‘bad’ will happen). So, our dear readers, we’re presenting you our Top10 most optimized PC games of 2012. Before starting, let us tell you that our Top10 is based on those games’ performance under DX9 and DX10. DX11 did not take off in 2012, and that’s why we did not focus on it. However, our GTX690 will serve us well in 2013, so rest assured that our upcoming Performance Analyses will also cover this API. Seems that Ubisoft is really supporting the PC version of Far Cry 3. Among other things, this latest patch improves stability, fixes one hell of bugs/issues, fixes several crashes, adds some tweaks for the Map Editor, and introduces new options the hide the HUD. You can find the download link – and the complete changelog – below. Continue reading Far Cry 3 – Patch 1.04 Released, Improves Overall Stability & Features Lots Of Fixes→

In addition, you can watch below a video that showcases the graphics of Far Cry 3, from YouTube’s member ‘xKyleN’. Stay tuned also for Far Cry 3, as we’ll have tomorrow a comparison between the SweetFX and its vanilla version. CraftedMovie has uploaded an interesting Minecraft machinima, in which we get to see what a Lion King game or film would look like with Minecraft’s assets, characters and graphics. It looks pretty amazing and took the team a lot of time to achieve that. On the other hand, Far Cry 3 mapper ‘Krazee DD’ has released a mini Lost map for Ubisoft’s sandbox title. Unfortunately, this map is for the X360 version of Far Cry 3, but you can view a flythrough video below. Enjoy! Continue reading Lost Map recreated in Far Cry 3, Lion King recreated in Minecraft→
Now this is how you develop a PC version of a multi-platform title. Far Cry 3 PC is the definition of what developers can achieve when they’re taking advantage of the PC. Not only does the game look fabulous, it also scales incredibly on four CPU cores, and showcases the huge difference between a game that is optimized for dual-cores and one that is optimized for quad-cores. It’s ironic – given the fact that this is a Ubisoft title – but Far Cry 3 is the most optimized PC game of 2012 and you can read below the reasons why we consider it this good.
