Sid Meier’s Civilization V goes free-to-play this weekend

2K Games and Firaxis Games announced today that Sid Meier’s Civilization V is free to play on Steam starting today until Sunday, May 27, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. PDT. As part of the celebration of the upcoming release of the expansion pack, Sid Meier’s Civilization V: Gods & Kings, the entire Civilization V franchise will be 75% off on Steam this weekend. 2K Games and Firaxis have released a new trailer for their upcoming XCOM game. X-COM: Enemy Unknown will feature destructible tactical environments, interaction between the real-time strategic view and the turn-based combat, upgrades and improvements for XCOM capabilities as the war rages on. XCOM: Enemy Unknown will be a really challenging game; not impossibly difficult or frustrating

In a recent interview with VentureBeat, Jake Solomon, lead designer for Firaxis Games’ XCOM: Enemy Unknown, said that their upcoming remake of the legendary XCOM game will be a really challenging game. Jake wanted to differentiate this term and said that it would not be impossibly difficult or tedious to play, just challenging in so many other ways. Moreover, Jake said that they have a game that openly embraces the idea of challenge as a selling point and that’s exactly what will differentiate their game from all other previous frustrating parts of the series, like X-Com: Terror from the Deep. 2K Games has just revealed a new expansion for Civilization V. Sid Meier’s Civilization V: Gods & Kings is the first expansion for 2K Games’ acclaimed strategy game and is currently slated for a late Spring 2012 release. XCOM: Enemy Unknown – First Screenshots Revealed

XCOM fans, here is something interesting for you. The first screenshots of Firaxis upcoming XCOM remake have just been revealed and you can view them bellow. In addition, GameInformer has released some new information about the game and according to them, the game won’t be dumbed down. Furthermore, XCOM: Enemy Uknown can be considered as a re-imagining of XCOM instead of a remake. The game looks pretty good, even in its early stage, and we can’t wait to get more details about it. Civilization V – New PC Update Released

Firaxis Games released today a new PC update for their latest turn-based strategy game, Civilization V. This update improves the enemy AI and rebalances the game to make higher difficulty levels more challenging. Furthermore, this update included improvements to the game’s multiplayer mode, as well as to the game’s UI and Diplomacy. We should note that your existing saves will work correctly, so there is no reason to worry about losing your game’s progress. This update is available through Steam and will be auto-downloaded next time you start your Steam client. The changelog is huge, so take a deep breath before reading it.
