Great news for horror fans as Frictional Games’ indie horror FPS, Amnesia: The Dark Descent, has sold over one million copies. In a blog update at the company’s official website, Frictional Games’ Thomas, has revealed that Amnesia has sold – in total – around 1.4 million copies. Bad news for all Amnesia fans, as the game will not hit its initial Halloween release date. According to thechineseroom’s Dan Pinchbeck, the game has been pushed back to 2013 because the company needs more time to polish it. Pinchbeck believes that the game’s quality will benefit from a few more months’ work, therefore they decided to delay it. Well, at least Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs is a PC exclusive title, meaning that thechineseroom won’t pull a ‘Ubisoft’ delay to us. Continue reading Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs pushed back to 2013→

We’ve said a lot of times that cut-scenes and quick-time events should be avoided. A couple of days ago, we informed you about Crytek’s plans for Crysis 3 and in that story, we expressed – for one more time – our opinion about the quick-time and scripted events. And we are happy to see the developers of Amnesia: The Dark Descent backing our claims. According to Frictional’s Thomas the biggest culprit for the lack of agency in most horror games are the cut-scenes. Damn straight right. In a recent interview with Joystiq, Frictinal Games and The Chinese Room revealed what most of us were suspecting all this time. The two companies are joining forces for the next Amnesia title called ‘Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs’. This new Amnesia game is funded by Frictional Games, developed by The Chinese Room, and will be released some time before this year’s Halloween. But that’s not important. What’s really interesting here is that Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs will be filled with more terror, horror and paranoia. In other words, you’ll once again scream like a little girl and perhaps squeeze… like a pig. And after the first two blurry images, Frictional Games has decided to actually reveal the final artwork for their next game. This artwork hints to sewers (or underground tunnels and caves… or something in-between) that will be featured in the game and looks quite sick. I mean, look at that meat / corpse hanging in the middle of the sewer. This new artwork definitely seems appropriate for Amnesia’s sequel.
