Now this is simply amazing. YouTube’s GhorsHammer is creating an incredible add-on for Garry’s Mod called gmDoom. According to its description, gmDoom is a partial source port of Doom integrated into Garry’s Mod 13. Assets are loaded from an IWAD, and no binary modules are required. The good news is that this add-on will be available through the Steam Workshop once bug testing is complete, which – according to the modder – should be in only a few days. Nathan Andrews has released a new video, showcasing his Half-Life Oculus Rift mod. Half-Life VR adds full head tracking and weapon tracking to Half-Life 2 in preparation for the Oculus Rift dev kit launch. In this video Nathan Andrews is using two hillcrest trackers, the same ones John Carmack used in his E3 and quakecon demos of the early rift prototype. This is full 360 degree, 1 to 1 tracking on both the head and weapon, there are no gimmicks or constraints between where you aim and your field of view. Nathan Andrews mod appears to be also compatible with FakeFactory’s Cinematic Mod. This looks epic, so go ahead and watch it. VR is almost upon us! Half Life 2 is still considered one of the best FPS games to date. Naturally, Valve’s FPS starts to show its age, and that’s why we recommend using mods such the mind-blowing Cinematic Mod. Despite the fact that this particular mod overhaul the game’s visuals (the texture work that has been done to it is among the best we’ve ever seen), a lot of gamers were put off by the alternative models of some characters. Imagine a Jurassic Park game with Far Cry 3’s engine. Now that would be amazing, right? Well, until someone decides to create an open-world game, based on Michael Crichton’s dino-universe, we’ll have to rely on various mods to satisfy our dino fantasies. Jurassic Life is a mod for Half-Life 2, and although there is no release date for it as of yet, the team behind it has released a new video that can be viewed below. It looks cool, though it needs a lot of polish (especially with regards to hit detection, dino models, and animations). Team Pro-Bones has released an interesting mod for Half Life 2. In Half-Life 2: Silent Escape scientists have organized the project of “Silent Escape” in which they must bring people to a safe place. The main character of the game is Sean who will visit many locations, such as the dark forest, an abandoned mine and evening forest. Ever wondered why Dishonored’s Dunwall looks so close to Half-Life 2’s City 17? Well, that is because these two games share a common art director, Viktor Antonov. Speaking with Eurogamer, Antonov revealed that he was the man responsible for Half-Life 2’s City 17, its suburbs and the alien Combine architecture and technology. Since Valve stopped producing games though, Antonov collaborated with Arkane to do Dishonored. And that’s precisely why Dunwall looks so close to City 17. Juergen Vierheilig released the latest version of his Cinematic Mod for Half-Life 2. As always, some will like it while others might hate it. Still, this is an amazing overhaul for Half-Life 2 and if you haven’t tried it yet, we’d urge you to.
