A lot of Prey 2 fans hoped to see – or at least hear something about it – in this year’s QuakeCon. Well, bad news everyone as Prey 2 was not present. Still, some screenshots were leaked a couple of hours ago from what seems to be an early build of the game. Bethesda has not confirmed anything yet, so take them with a grain of salt. Prey 2’s development mayhem keeps delivering. A couple of days ago, we informed you about a rumor suggesting that Arkane Studios, the team behind Dishonored, might be rebooting Prey 2. Naturally, these are just rumors, however a lot began wondering what had happened with Human Head Studios. And from what Jason L Blair, a Human Head former employee, shared, it seems that the company had a working version of their vision up and running. Bad news for Prey 2 fans, as there is a high probability that Prey 2 won’t get released on this generation of consoles (and PCs). Back in March, we informed you about Prey 2’s rumored cancellation. According to those rumors, Bethesda had cancelled Prey 2’s development. That was based on the fact that the company had cancelled the Prey 2 event at this year’s GDC, and that they have not shown pretty much anything since the E3 footage. Human Head Studios has re-released their third person Viking game, Rune, on Steam. Entitled as ‘Rune Classic’, this classic third person Viking game comes with new enemies, Steam Achievements, levels that have been redesigned for more enjoyable play, a number of Multiplayer modes (Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Arena and Headball), over 35 multiplayer and singleplayer levels, as well as the music tracks from the game and the original audio CD in OGG format. Earlier this month, Human Head revealed – via their Rune Facebook page – that they are interested in reviving this old franchise. Although nothing is certain at this point, Human Head co-founder and senior level designer Ted Halsted revealed that the sequel of the game will be a fast action third person game with many more tactical options, similar to how modern-day shooters are (compared to the old school ones). It took Bethesda a while but finally, they made an official statement about Prey 2’s development. According to Beth’s official blog, the game is still under development, however it won’t be released in 2012. The delay is said to be due to the fact that ‘game development has not progressed satisfactorily this past year, and the game does not currently meet our quality standards‘.
