DOOM Won’t Come With Additional Modding Tools Beyond SnapMap, SnapMap Limitations Unveiled

The Doom series is widely known for its openness to the modding community. After all, a mod that – perhaps – influenced id Software while creating the latest installment in the Doom series was no other than Brutal Doom. Therefore, modders were looking forward to the modding tools that would be available in the new Doom. Well, if you were one of them, get ready to be hugely disappointed as id Software won’t provide any additional modding tools other than SnapMap. And if the following comparison is anything to go by – created by NATHAN RANNEY – then we can safely say that the game would look better with more proper colours (I mean, the Cacodemon is red. Plain and simple. Not brown). Here is hoping that id Software will give players a way to remove this filter from the final game. DOOM – First Official 4K Screenshots Released

Bethesda has just released the first screenshots for DOOM in glorious 4K resolution. These images showcase some of the enemies that are featured in id Software’s upcoming reboot. Doom is powered by the id Tech 6 and looks gorgeous, though we do have to say that its visuals reminded us those of Doom 3 (level design also seems similar, apart from the fact that the levels are not as dark-ish as those featured in Doom 3). Enjoy! Continue reading DOOM – First Official 4K Screenshots Released

Here Is What the Cancelled Version of Doom 4 Looked Like

The new Doom game will be revealed in about a month, and today a number of screenshots from the cancelled version of Doom 4 got revealed (some videos were also provided that are – unfortunately – now private). In short, this is the real deal. This is how Doom 4 looked like. As we can see, this felt more like a mashup between Call of Duty and Killzone rather than a new Doom game. So we are kind of happy that it was cancelled. Enjoy the images after the jump! Continue reading Here Is What the Cancelled Version of Doom 4 Looked Like
