Doom 4 Is In Trouble, Being Rebooted For Next-Generation Platforms

Doom 4 v2
Things are not looking good – at all- for Doom 4 and id Software as according to Kotaku, Doom 4 has already been rebooted. As Bethesda’s vice president of marketing and public relations Pete Hines said in a statement to Kotaku, Doom 4’s initial version did not exhibit the quality and excitement that Id and Bethesda intend to deliver and as a result of that, the game has been rebooted. Not only that, but the game is now planned for next-generation platforms, and there is no ETA as of yet. Continue reading Doom 4 Is In Trouble, Being Rebooted For Next-Generation Platforms

Doom fans, get ready for a treat. A pre-alpha version of Doom 4 has been leaked to the Internet, showcasing the first level and its tutorial mission. Contrary to the leaked artworks that we presented you a couple of months ago, this pre-alpha version is packed with a game world similar to the first classic parts of the Doom series (and not to RAGE). What’s also interesting is that the game features hordes of enemies, bringing back memories of both Doom 1 and 2. QuakeCon 2013 Announced, To Be Held On August 1-4

John Carmack v2
Each and every year, I’m looking forward to QuakeCon. It’s not that it is as exciting as E3, GDC or GamesCom. No no no, QuakeCon is something completely different. However, each and every year John Carmack talks during this event. And when this programming guru speaks, we all listen. Sure, some do not like id Software’s policy – and we were among the first to criticize the PC version of RAGE – but still, Carmack is one of the few that knows his stuff. This is what a remastered HD version of Doom could look like

Doom
One of the reasons I love Doom 64 is because id Software decided to create new sprites for every monster and new textures for its environments. The end result was gorgeous back then and – to be honest – I’d love to see a remastered HD version of Doom. You know, 2D sprites that are wonderfully designed in HD. And since this is not going to happen anytime soon, I can at least satisfy my need for some Doom ‘OldSchool’ HD with this video. YouTube’s member ‘TJ Townsend’ has recreated a scene from Doom. The final image spans across 7 PSD files at a resolution of 9600×7211 pixels, and this project took him 35 hours to complete over the course of 8 days. It looks spectacular, so go ahead and take a look! Continue reading This is what a remastered HD version of Doom could look like

Quake Gets A New Mod That Overhauls Its Sound & Music – EpiQuake Is Out Now

Quake
Now this is really interesting. There is no denying that Quake looks epically amazing with its Darkplaces mod. Yes, all of its characters are blocky for today standards but the improved textures and special graphical effects give Quake’s visuals a big boost. Therefore, and instead of focusing on improving those polished visuals, modder ‘beckett007’ decided to concentrate on another aspect of id’s classic FPS, its sound (and music). Ultimate Super Doom 3 Lets You Kill Doom 3’s Enemies In id Software’s Classic Masterpiece

Doom
Our reader ‘Cristian Fabian Muñoz Isla’ has informed us about a new Doom mod, called Ultimate Super Doom 3. As the title suggests, this mod replaces the enemies – and the sounds – of the game with those from Doom 3. It’s a really weird mix of two different worlds, so make sure to check it out.
