Microsoft Releases Video Showing Why The Cloud Is Important For Games With Lots Of Physics Effects

Microsoft has released a new video, showing the importance of the cloud in games that are packing a lot of physics effects. This tech demo was showed off at Build 2014 during Steve Guggenheimer’s keynote. In this video, one side is a single computer doing all of the physics calculations real time by itself, the other is a computer taking advantage of remote destruction servers doing those calculations. As noted by Microsoft, this is real-time physics and lighting calculations and not scripted. It looks amazing, though we’d love to know the specs of the PC that was running those physics effects locally. Enjoy! Halo: Spartan Assault Coming To Steam April 4th, Will Support Windows 7/Vista

Well, it was bound to happen. Releasing a Halo isometric action game exclusively on Windows 8 was one of the dumbest ideas ever. Especially if you are Microsoft. After failing to boost its latest OS’ sales by taking advantage of its biggest IP, Microsoft decided to do what most publishers would do from the get-go; support Windows Vista/7 and release the bloody game on Steam. Microsoft Will Unveil DirectX 12 At This Year’s GDC

While a lot of us are criticizing DirectX for what it currently is, we have to admit that Microsoft’s API did benefit the PC platform in its early stages (when every manufacturer was introducing its ‘proper’ API that drove developers nuts). And while both DX11.1 and DX11.2 are not groundbreaking, Microsoft revealed that it will unveil the next iteration of this API at this year’s GDC. PS4 & Xbox One Emulators May Arrive Sooner Than Expected

xbox vs ps4

Ah, the beautiful – yet awkward – world of emulation. Thanks to them a lot of players can enjoy classic 16bit titles. Thanks to them, all PSX titles have been enhanced with better visuals and framerates. Thanks to them, more people were able to enjoy a variety of games that were not available on their platform. And thanks to them PC gamers may get their hands on PS4 and Xbox One games in the near future. Continue reading PS4 & Xbox One Emulators May Arrive Sooner Than Expected
