Huge news PC gamers. While Nvidia has not commented yet on supporting Mantle, it appears that both DirectX and OpenGL will be catching up with AMD’s API. According to some slideshows from this year’s GDC, both DirectX and OpenGL will start offering low-level access in order to reduce draw overhead. New Video For Windows 8 Exclusive Title, Project Spark
Microsoft has released a new video for Project Spark; a title that will be exclusive to Windows 8 and aims to let gamers create whatever they want to and share their creations with others. Project Spark is described as a powerful, yet simple way to build and play your own worlds, stories, and games. Players will be able to share all of their creations to a dynamic community, and play what the community makes. Basically, think of Project Spark as a bigger version of Little Big Planet. Now if only that game wasn’t exclusive to Windows 8… but then again, Microsoft needs to somehow hype its latest OS with some exclusives, right? Time for that Halo 3 Windows 8 exclusive title then. AMD Explains Why Mantle Is Exclusive To PC & Not Present On Xbox One
A couple of hours ago, Microsoft revealed that Xbox One only supports DX 11.x as its API. Contrary to rumors, Xbox One does not support Mantle (or any other API like OpenGL). AMD clarifies: Mantle is not AMD’s CUDA, Microsoft was well aware of its existence
Another day, another Mantle article. A couple of days ago, French website Hardware interviewed AMD’s Raja Koduri who shared some interesting information about the red team’s upcoming API. According to Raja, Microsoft was well aware of the existence of Mantle. Not only that, but AMD will continue working with Microsoft on all the latest versions of DirectX, just like they’ve been doing this whole time.
