It’s been a while since our last look on State of Decay, an upcoming sandbox zombie game that is being developed by Undead Labs. The game has been showcased at this year’s PAX East and RaidWarning has captured some new footage. In State of Decay, players will be able to decide where they’d like to set up a fortified safe heaven for them and other survivors they have rescued, form raiding parties to gather resources and create supply chains. Players can also use the materials they have gathered to develop their community as they see fit, however resources will deplete as they pillage areas, and zombies are attracted to noise and activity. Now that’s a big surprise. We all thought that Halo 3’s appearance in Steam’ registry was a big mistake, however there might be something going on in the background. After all, Microsoft’s title has just appeared in the latest profiles of AMD’s Catalyst drivers, suggesting that a release might be closer than we think. Spotted by our reader Sid Spyker Sabin Figaro (and thanks to Guru3D’s user kn00tcn), this profile was added to AMD’s Catalyst 13.3 Beta drivers. YouTube’s member ‘devinsupertramp’ and his friends made an amazing live-action video that supposedly showcases an early verion of Halo 5 for X720. The costumes are a beauty to behold and we seriously think that these guys should use them to make a proper Halo movie. On the other hand, the commentary in this video sucks. It really, really, REALLY does. In fact, we’d advise you to watch the video in mute mode due to the awful commentator. Enjoy! Continue reading Halo 5 In Real Life – Fan-Made Live-Action Video→
Rob Platt (also known in YouTube as Pl511) has informed us about his latest collaboration with Plasma3Music, as these two fellas have decided to remix Halo 4’s main theme. As Rob described, in this remix, Plasma3Music and he tried to keep it faithful to the original version while adding their own touches and styles to the theme. Needless to say that this is a piece of art that you deserves your attention, even if you’re not fans of Halo. But let’s be honest here; even though some of you may hate the game, its score is among the best we’ve heard in a video-game. Enjoy! Continue reading Halo 4 – Main Theme ‘To Galaxy’ Remix→
Good news for Windows 7 users, as it seems that Microsoft has – somewhat – backed off and will add various DX11.1 features to your beloved OS. According to a post on the ‘Games for Windows and the DirectX SDK’ blog, Microsoft brings – via the Platform Update for Windows 7 Service Pack 1 and Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 (KB 2670838) that is included with the Internet Explorer 10 Release Preview for Windows 7 – some DX11.1 features. Continue reading DX11.1 not exclusive to Windows 8 after all, Microsoft adds DX11.1 features to Windows 7→
Okay everyone, you did see that coming, didn’t you? Well, it appears that DirectX 11.1 will be an API that is exclusive for Windows 8, just like DX10 was to Windows Vista and DX11 was to Windows 7 (well, that was until MS released a Vista version of it). This does not shock us at all, as Microsoft is simply trying to make everyone upgrade to its latest OS, by any means necessary. So say goodbye to it you die-hard Windows 7 users as MS is locking its DirectX API, an API that is essential for PC games. Continue reading Microsoft makes DirectX 11.1 exclusive to Windows 8, no support for Windows 7/Vista→
Well, it was to be expected. Halo 4 has just been launched on X360 and in attempt to further push its sales, Microsoft has stated that the game will not come to the PC. According to Penny-Arcade, a Microsoft spokesperson told them that Halo 4 will not be ported to the PC platform because the game has been designed for the X360 system. Which sounds similar to Microsoft’s excuse about the – temporarily – absence of Alan Wake from the PC (remember that sofa-thing and how the game was meant to be played?).
