Ubisoft has announced that they’ll be releasing a Minecraft inspired Far Cry 3 universe free for download on PC, on October 26th. The pack will allow players to explore and survive the Minecraft experience through the warped lens of Far Cry 3, with modifications to all aspects of the original game, including environments, weapons and tools. Doom and Minecraft fans, this is for you. Reddit’s user ‘eohylanmay’ has recreated the first level of Doom in Minecraft. The map looks really cool, though eohylanmay decided to use Minecraft’s textures instead of those from id Software’s classic FPS title. Borderlands 2 features a Minecraft easter egg, or should we say an entire level that is inspired by Notch’s indie game. Avemagnadude has created an incredible Minecraft machinima movie that is based on the E3 cinematic trailer of Assassin’s Creed III. Needless to say that this movie looks amazingly great, so be sure to check it out. This machinima reminded us of all the LEGO games that are based on other franchises, and and let us tell you that a LEGO Assassin’s Creed game would be kind interesting. Neogaf user ‘Nibel’ spotted an amazing mod for Minecraft that updates the game’s graphics. This mod adds shaders to Minecraft in a post-process manner that simulate different effects that occur in the real-world in how light reacts with objects and with the human eye. This mod also adds dynamic movement to flora and fire. With this mod, Minecraft looks awesome and we highly recommend it. You can find below some screenshots, a video and its download link. A couple of weeks ago, an amazing mashup between Assassin’s Creed 3 and Minecraft surfaced and passed under our radar. Thankfully, Ubisoft’s FB page informed us about it and we are happy to present you Assassin’s Craft 3. This is basically what happens when Minecraft meets Assassin’s Creed 3 and dare we say we’d love to play such a game. Man, that’s a lot of pixelated bricks, right? The PC version of Minecraft has just hit 6 million sold copies, with almost 30 million registered users. According to the game’s stats, in the last 24 hours, 84,541 people registered, and 9,164 people bought the game. Now this is amazing. YouTube’s member ‘volx1337’ decided to create a video that showcases the epic Rapture build by Schlafshane and RastaCre. This underwater metropolis brings the atmosphere of BioShock to Minecraft and looks beautiful. Those interested can follow this map by visiting its official website. It’s been three years since the first public unveiling of Minecraft, a game that was described back then as a very early test of an Infiniminer clone in which Notch has been working on, and was meant to have more resource management and material elements. Ironically, Notch said back then that Minecraft would have those features if he ever got around finishing it. Fast forward three years and Minecraft is the most successful indie game, Notch is a millionaire and Mojang is a reality. Just wow.
