Okay Dark Souls fans, we’ve got some good and some bad news for you today. The good news is that Dark Souls 2 got a target release date. The bad news is that the sequel to one of the hardest RPGs won’t be coming anytime soon. Namco Bandai has confirmed to Eurogamer that Dark Souls 2 is currently planned for a March 2014 release on current-gen systems and PC. Namco Bandai announced that its arcade-style droid shooter, Hexodius, is heading to PC this June 21st via Steam, and will launch on Xbox Live in autumn 2013. Developed by Brain Slap Studios , Hexodius promises to throw players into the heat of the blaster battle as they conquer multiple game modes and explore six varied worlds, each with a multitude of challenging arenas. There comes a time when you realize that a specific game will flop. You see, while the gameplay trailers of Star Trek: The Video Game were quite good (thanks to clever editing), we always felt that something was ‘off’. Unfortunately, it seems that we were right as the actual gameplay mechanics of this new Star Trek game are awful. Since this is a Performance Analysis, we don’t want to focus on them but think of this title as a failed mashup of Mass Effect 3 (cover and combat mechanics) with Batman: Arkham Asylum (scanning abilities) that is accompanied by some truly bad and ‘robotic’ animation transitions. Namco Bandai and Paramount Pictures have released the launch trailer of Star Trek: The Video Game. According to the press release, the game combines the talents of the film’s cast — including Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, John Cho, Simon Pegg, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban and Anton Yelchin — with co-op gameplay that lets players become either Kirk or Spock. Although Namco has not revealed – yet – whether Dark Souls 2 will be using GFWL or not, tha game’s director Yui Tanimura has shared some interesting new information about the PC version of this highly anticipated title. Dark Souls 2’s official website has been updated and it seems that the PC version won’t suffer from the atrocity called GFWL. Yeap, this may come as a pleasant surprise, however GFWL’s logo is absent from the official website, suggesting that FromSoftware won’t be using Microsoft’s DRM/Online system.
