Yesterday, AMD announced its latest “Never Settle Reloaded Bundle Campaign”, in which PC gamers can get (for free) a number of games, depending on their purchase of an AMD graphics card. Square Enix and Nixxes Software have released a new PC update for Hitman: Absolution. According to its changelog, this patch offers performance enhancements on various hardware configurations. We’ve already seen that Absolution had some optimization issues, therefore it will be interesting to see whether Nixxes has addressed them or not. Nixxes Software and IO Interactive have released a new update for the PC version of Hitman: Absolution. According to its changelog, this patch adds an option to either lower or disable the game’s Bloom effect, improves – slightly – the general performance, and adjusts the game’s difficulty levels. Nixxes Software and Square Enix have released the first PC patch for Hitman: Absolution. According to its release notes, this patch enables DX10 owners to use the simplest version of the Depth Of Field effect, fixes various startup issues, and addresses all problems with the Sniper Challenge Unlocks not carrying over into Hitman: Absolution. Ah, Hitman: Absolution. A Square Enix game that is ported to the PC by Nixxes. Awesome, right? After all, Nixxes was behind the PC version of Deus Ex: Human Revolution, a version that featured a lot of graphical options, a FOV slider, and took advantage of quad-cores. In all seriousness (and despite the fact that there was an annoying stuttering effect that was later fixed), Deus Ex: Human Revolution is a great PC port. Therefore, we were expecting Hitman: Absolution to blow us away. However, it did not. And did you know that the PC version suffers from console optimizations? Oh, you didn’t know that, right? Bad news for those who are still stuck with Windows XP, as Nixxes Software has confirmed that Hitman: Absolution won’t support this particular OS. When asked about the minimum requirements of Hitman: Absolution (at EIDOS official forum), a member suggested that Windows XP would be supported as it was listed on Amazon’s product page. However, that’s not the case. A member from Nixxes then replied (the team porting the game, that was also responsible for the PC version of Deus Ex: Human Revolution) and said that the game – as Hitman: Sniper Challenge – won’t support Windows XP. Nixxes and EIDOS Montreal have just released a new patch for the PC version of Deus Ex: Human Revolution that reduces the stuttering in the game, improves parallelism with the graphics driver on multi-core machines, improves SSAO, and resolves various issues with Nvidia’s 3D Vision.
