NVIDIA’s Morgan McGuire: “First triple-A game to require a ray tracing GPU will be released in 2023”

While real-time ray tracing is a tech that NVIDIA is currently trying to push, it appears that the first triple-A game that will require a Ray Tracing graphics card will not be coming out anytime soon. According to NVIDIA’s Morgan McGuire, the first triple-A game that will not run on non-Ray Tracing GPUs will be released in 2023 (which is four years from now). NVIDIA has just lifted the embargo for the NVIDIA GeForce RTX2080 Super graphics card and the first third-party gaming benchmarks have surfaced. First gaming benchmark leaked for the NVIDIA GeForce RTX2080 Super, almost as fast as Titan V

The first gaming benchmark for the NVIDIA GeForce RTX2080 Super has just been leaked via the official Final Fantasy XV benchmark site. As we can clearly see, NVIDIA’s new GPU is slightly faster than the NVIDIA Titan XP and slightly slower than the NVIDIA Titan V in this particular benchmark. NVIDIA GeForce RTX2080 runs Crysis 3 with Reshade Ray Tracing with 60fps at Very High/1080p

These past few weeks we’ve been sharing numerous videos from games that were visually improved by Pascal Gilcher’s Ray Tracing Reshade. However, all of the users that have been testing this experimental version of ReShade were using mid-range GPUs. Thankfully, YouTube’s ‘4K Video Source’ has shared a video showing Crysis 3 with this Reshade Ray Tracing/Path Tracing mod running on an NVIDIA GeForce RTX2080.
