Some could say that this is something surprising, but we’ve already heard those rumors about Bethesda acquiring the STALKER IP in the past. In fact, this rumor surfaced when STALKER 2 was cancelled. Although Sergey Grigorovich was quick to react and said that he did not sell the rights to Bethesda, there was definitely something weird going on in the background. And we saw that coming. Even though the STALKER 2 team was reassuring us that STALKER 2 would not be cancelled, we knew that wasn’t the truth. So, PC gamers, say goodbye to STALKER 2 and hello to Survarium. Survarium is what STALKER 2 was meant to be and can be considered as the spiritual successor to the first STALKER. Sergey Zhukov, a former GSC employee (animator), has leaked an animation video of the upcoming S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 game. This video shows off the new animation system that will be – hopefully – used in the game, as well as the more detailed characters. STALKER fans are certainly pleased with the fact that STALKER 2 is still in development, however they won’t be able to enjoy this title in 2012. As GSC GameWorld revealed via their Twitter account, there is currently no release date for STALKER 2 and they are afraid that it won’t come out in 2012. Okay STALKER 2 fans, here is something that might make you happy and start jumping around your room. GSC GameWorld has tweeted that we’ll get some official news in mid January and that “there is cause for hope”. Which basically translates to “Hey, there is a chance we might not close and STALKER 2 might not get cancelled”. Make no mistake though. Yeah, it seems that there is light at the end of GSC’s tunnel but for all we know, this message could be GSC’s attempt at damage control, so hold your horses. For now at least.
