This article was inspired by a video that Elias Peppas shared with me. YouTube’s member ‘HelixSnake’ made a compilation of some epic physics fails from Skate 3. And this made us wonder; what could possibly go wrong in a video-game when its physics engine go insane? Well, the answer is quite simple. You can get some gay stuff thanks to the Impact Engine of Fifa 12 & 13, spinning cars, boobs that can go up and down, and games with non-existent collisions (yeah, we’re talking about the legendary ‘Big Rigs’ game). It’s a bit ironic when a new company president feels embarrassed for a game that does not follow the current ‘game trend’ and tries to be unique, fun and enjoyable. We’re obviously referring to THQ’s new president, Jason Rubin, who feels embarrassed about Volition’s unique third person shooter game, Saints Row: The Third. Back when Saints Row: The Third was about to get released, Volition promised 40 weeks of DLC. That was a big task and although the team is trying to keep new downloaded content coming, players will not be able to carry their new, beloved weapons in the main story / city. Why you ask? But because Volition is facing some memory issues with Saints Row: The Third game engine. This applies to both the PC and console versions, even though PCs already have insane amounts of unused memory. Saints Row: The Third is out now, and it’s time to see how this bad boy performs with a modern-day PC. Volition has stated that this is not a console port and although that might be true, we are really puzzled with its abnormal performance. We’re pretty sure that AMD/ATI will obviously know that it is a technical mess. This performance analysis, however, shows that Nvidia users will also encounter various issues with this game, especially if they want to run it in SLI mode. Call us impressed but Volition has just announced that they are working on a patch for the PC version of Saints Row: The Third. Even though the company hasn’t released any changelog or an ETA, we do know that this patch will feature further optimization and better performance. Sounds great, right? You bet as Red Faction: Armageddon was not supported at all by the very same studio after its initial release. Hell, there isn’t even any SLI profile for it as of yet. So kudos to Volition for properly supporting their latest game. Continue reading Saints Row: The Third PC; Volition is working on a performance patch→
