There comes a time when you realize that a specific game will flop. You see, while the gameplay trailers of Star Trek: The Video Game were quite good (thanks to clever editing), we always felt that something was ‘off’. Unfortunately, it seems that we were right as the actual gameplay mechanics of this new Star Trek game are awful. Since this is a Performance Analysis, we don’t want to focus on them but think of this title as a failed mashup of Mass Effect 3 (cover and combat mechanics) with Batman: Arkham Asylum (scanning abilities) that is accompanied by some truly bad and ‘robotic’ animation transitions. Namco Bandai and Paramount Pictures have released the launch trailer of Star Trek: The Video Game. According to the press release, the game combines the talents of the film’s cast — including Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, John Cho, Simon Pegg, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban and Anton Yelchin — with co-op gameplay that lets players become either Kirk or Spock. Paramount Pictures and Namco Bandai Games today revealed that STAR TREK The Video Game will be released on April 26, 2013, in Europe and Australasia. Moreover, the legion of eager Star Trek fans and gamers will be able to place their order soon, as STAR TREK The Video Game‘s preorder program will be starting in the coming weeks at participating retailers. Namco has announced that they’ll be showcasing – in full 3D – Star Trek at this weekend’s London event Destination Star Trek London, in a specially build screening room (using Nvidia technology). The publisher will show a gameplay presentation, demonstrating the most varied co-op experience for this console generation from both Spock and Kirk’s unique in game perspective’s. Namco released the teaser trailer for Star Trek: The Video Game. The action-packed combat game is set to launch the first quarter of 2013 prior to the May 17th theatrical release of the next Star Trek installment from director and producer J.J. Abrams and is developed by Digital Extremes. The game, through a license with CBS Consumer Products, is based on a stand-alone storyline that continues the adventure of iconic characters Kirk and Spock as they work together to stop a legendary enemy race bent on conquering the galaxy.
