Starbreeze has agreed to acquire Valhalla, a next generation game engine under development with its related technology and tools. The acquisition is to be paid for with approx. 3.3 million shares (before the suggested A/B split and 1:2 issue of new A-shares) equivalent to approx. 73 MSEK at current share price and corresponding to approx. 2,25% of the share capital post acquisition. Starbreeze and 505 Games have released a walkthrough trailer for their upcoming game, Brothers – A Tale of Two Sons. According to its description, in this title players will control both brothers at once as you experience co-op play in single player mode, like never before. Players will solve puzzles, explore the varied locations and fight boss battles, controlling one brother with each thumb stick. The game is planned for a 2013 release on XBLA, PSN and Steam. Enjoy! Great news for FPS fans as The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena is now available on GOG. As with all GOG titles, this version of The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena is DRM-free and is priced at $5.99. Unfortunately though, the Multiplayer mode is not functional. Ah, Syndicate. A title with so much potential that turned into a generic FPS with ‘nuclear explosion-ish’ lighting effects. In fact, this is the most memorable thing about the FPS adaptation of the legendary strategy game. Ironically, Starbreeze’s CEO has not been satisfied with it too, although he then admitted that he was happy with what his company had managed to achieve. Starbreeze has revealed at GDC that they’ll be going free-to-play with a new title, called Cold Mercury. Although we don’t have any more information about it, we do know that Starbreeze will not abandon the AAA segment and given its free-to-play nature, we can safely assume that this game will hit the PC first.
