Steam Report – More Than 70 Million Copies Of Games Were Sold In September 2015

SteamSpy has revealed the September sales numbers for Valve’s distribution service, Steam. According to the stats, more than 70 million copies of games were sold last month. Now do note that this number includes all the free offers (free to keep games plus free weekends). If we exclude these free offers, the stats fall down to 28 million copies. Steam Survey – 17% Of Steam Users Running Win10, 52% Owning NVIDIA GPU, 63% Owning DX12 System

Steam’s August Hardware Survey has just been revealed and some really interesting details can be extracted from that survey. First and foremost, it appears that Microsoft’s new operating system, Windows 10, is doing well. Around 17% of Steam users are running Windows 10 (64bit and 32bit). Windows 7 remains the most popular OS with almost 49%, while Windows 8.1 comes with 24%. Steamspy has published the statistics for Steam’s Summer Sale. As we can see, indie survival dino title, ARK: Survival Evolved, has managed to raise $10 million, making it one of the most successful indie early access games. However, ARK: Survival Evolved was not the best selling game on Steam, as Counter-Strike: Global Offensive has managed to sell more copies. It appears that Steam’s new refund policy will hurt indie developers more than they initially thought. Steam Graph Shows That Expensive Games Sell Better Than Cheaper Games On Average

Steamspy has shared a really interesting graph about Steam. This graph shows Steam’s average sales by price points, and lists the number of games that are currently available on each price point. And as we can see, even though the $9.99 and $4.99 are the most popular price points, their average sales are not even close to those of games that are priced at $50 – $69.99.
