Attention zombie fans as a new patch for Dead Island has just been rolled out. This new update is 79MB in size and will be auto-downloaded next time you start the Steam client. Deep Silver and Steam didn’t release any changelog for this patch, though we can confirm that this patch will fix your launch issues that were introduced with the previous patch. Additionally, the game’s version has been updated to 1.2.1. Continue reading Dead Island – Update 1.2.1 Released→
LIONSGATE today announced that it has optioned film rights from Deep Silver to develop a feature inspired by Dead Island, which became a viral media sensation when its haunting, artful trailer launched in February 2011. The announcement was made by Lionsgate’s co-COO and Motion Picture Group President Joe Drake. Continue reading Dead Island is coming to the big screen→
Dead Island has already met a huge success – even though it was released a few weeks ago – as Techland has managed to offer a great mix between Far Cry and Dead Rising. It is a fun game that needs to be played, even if you don’t funky all those zombie games out there. We were really curious to see how the game would perform as it shares the same engine with CoJ: The Cartel. Would it suffer from all those issues? Well, time to find out how the PC version performs with a modern-day PC. Continue reading Dead Island PC Performance Analysis→
Well, it was to be expected. Dead Island met a huge success and deep inside us, we already knew that someone would try and make a real-life short film, based on it. So, here is the first one guys. Although the film’s budget is limited, the film stayed true to the game’s spirit and atmosphere and every gameplay mechanic has been ported perfectly. Now that’s how you do a proper real-life short film. Enjoy it after the jump. Continue reading Dead Island – Impressive short film that stays true to the game→
Call of Juarez was one of my most beloved games. Back in the days of DX9, the game featured spectacular visuals and incorporated some unique ideas. Moreover, it was a quality Wild West game, and we didn’t have one since… Outlaws. It basically filled a gap and became even prettier with a DX10 patch that Techland released afterwards. It seems though that the company didn’t realize the reasons behind CoJ’s success. Either that or they became gritty – like most others – and wanted to appeal to a wider audience. The result was a sequel that was inferior to its prequel and a third part that has nothing to do with the series. It could easily be a new IP franchise instead of a Call of Juarez game, but I guess Techland needed the name to trick and sell the game to the fans of the series. We’ve seen it in the past. Publishers releasing a broken game and developers trying to fix its issues unsuccessfully. Who can forget Vampire: Bloodlines and what happened when Troika was shut down? All hell broke loose but… there is a big BUT. The PC Gaming Community stood up saying proudly “Hell no, we are PC gamers. We’re gonna fix this broken game” and as a result of that, we got lots of unofficial patches for it. Fast forward a couple of years and the same thing might happen with Dead Island. So Techland has finally released the ‘real’ version of Dead Island on Steam but there are some of us that are experiencing some annoying microstuttering. Before jumping to early conclusions, this microstuttering takes effect whenever we are moving our characters so it has nothing to do with the graphics card or its drivers. The weird thing though is that this microstuttering is eliminated the moment we connect and try the game with a gamepad. Continue reading Dead Island Microstuttering Can Be Caused By Keyboard; Temporary Fix→
Well, it was to be expected. Earlier today we informed you about Dead Island’s developer build that was released on Steam by mistake. Techland looked into this and has just announced that the final, proper version will come out later today. The company didn’t state anything else so we can only assume that players will have to download the entire game from the start. Continue reading Confirmed: Dead Island Final Version Coming Later Today→
Okay guys, this is a major screw up. Although PC gamers all over the world have been looking forward to the release of Dead Island, it looks like Techland and Deep Silver have made a major mistake with the game’s Steam version. If you had tried the Steam version of Dead Island, you would most probably have encountered a number of bugs and issues. For example, players could no-clip by pressing a certain key. Well, that’s because the version that was released was not the final one but a developer’s build. Continue reading Dead Island PC Developer Build released on Steam instead of the Final version→
Deep Silver released a new co-op trailer for their upcoming zombie game, Dead Island. The game looks definitely great, although it’s pretty obvious it is influenced by both Far Cry and Left 4 Dead. This combination could work out and with a co-op mode, it might appeal to a broader crowd. Dead Island will hit stores in September so be sure check out this new co-op trailer after the jump.
