Pelikan13 has released a new video for his upcoming arcade racing title that is inspired by the great arcade racers of the 90’s. As Pelikan13 noted, the game won’t be out this year. The development team is currently working hard to ‘get the physics right and get rid of any bugs and unwanted behavior while also working on the AI and general game structure.‘ Still, this new video looks gorgeous enough to make us drool all over our monitor (nostalgia is a b*tch), even though we’ve yet to see some proper gameplay footage from it. The 90’s Arcade Racer is perhaps the racing game we are most looking forward to this year. Even though this title is not as polished as GRID 2 (and does not feature as many shaders as Codemasters’ game), it comes with an amazing art design. It’s also a tribute to the classic SEGA arcade games, and we are big fans of those games. The 90’s Arcade Racer is powered by the Unity engine and Gamereactor interviewed Antonis Pelekanos and Tyrone Rodriguez, the duo responsible for it. Antonis Pelekanos has also revealed that this racing game is planned for a late 2013 release, though there is a high chance that it will get slightly delayed (meaning that we’re looking at a 2014 release). I’ll be honest here; one of my most favourite racing games is SCUD Race. And Daytona USA. And Indy 500. Hell, I love all those old SEGA arcade racing games. In fact, I was really pissed off when SEGA decided to skip SCUD Race and did not port it to Dreamcast. And even though we’ve got MAME to remind us how cool those Model 2/3 games actually were, it still isn’t the same with the real deal.
