Well, we all knew it but it’s nice to see an official confirmation of it. After all those rumors and speculations, Kojima and Konami have officially revealed that Metal Gear Solid 5 is The Phantom Pain and Ground Zeroes combined into one game. Kojima has showcased MGS5 at this year’s GDC on a PC with a X360 controller, meaning that there is already a PC version up and running. Unfortunately, MGS 5: The Phantom Pain is currently announced for X360 and PS3, and we cannot understand why Konami is not confirming the PC version that was showcased. A couple of days ago, Geoff Keighley tweeted that he was about to interview the head of Moby Dick Studios, Joakim Mogren. A lot of people got excited, however Joakim (or Kojima as most people believe that’s him) did not reveal anything particular exciting about this new game. However, we at least found out that the game will receive a new trailer at this year’s GDC and that it runs on Konami’s new engine, the FOX engine. It’s been one hell of a week so far for Metal Gear Solid fans. I mean, everyone was expecting to hear or see something about Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes at this year’s VGAs and then, out of nowhere, Moby Dick Studios emerged with some footage from an unannounced game that looked so similar to what Kojima showcased a couple of months ago. Same lighting effects, same engine, same protagonist. Could this be a coincidence? A new IP has been announced on today’s VGA awards. At first glance, this looks like a MGS title as the main character looks exactly like Big Boss. I mean, come on. Look at him; same hair type, same beard, and let’s not forget that Big Boss was a clone so he should be facing amnesia issues. But this title is developed by Moby Dick Studio, therefore this can’t be a MGS title. Unless of course Konami is co-operating with Moby Dick for a new MGS title. NeoGAF users on the other hand have made a lot of investigation, so be sure to check what they have to say. All points hint that The Phantom Pain and MGS: Ground Zeroes are the same thing. But anyway, this all is speculation and below you can find the game’s debut trailer. Continue reading New IP “The Phantom Pain” Announced At VGA Awards 2012→
