E3 2012 – Tomb Raider – Microsoft Conference Gameplay Footage

Crystal Dynamics showcased Tomb Raider at Microsoft’s E3 2012 Conference and you can watch below some brand new gameplay footage of it. As it’s pretty obvious, this is an Uncharted clone in every possible way. Apart from that though, this new Tomb Raider game comes with good combat mechanics, great physics effects (although at the end of the footage, the environmental physics are all over the place), destructible environments and vertical combat gameplay. Tomb Raider – E3 2012 Crossroads Trailer; Coming in March 5th 2013

Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics have revealed the full new “Crossroads” E3 trailer for Tomb Raider and announced that the game will hit the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC on March 5, 2013. This new Tomb Raider game is basically a reboot of the series and looks very similar to Uncharted. Don’t know if that’s a good or a bad thing. Tomb Raider delayed to 2013

And another one bites the dust. Crystal Dynamics have unveiled – a couple of hours ago – the the highly anticipated reboot of Tomb Raider will be pushed back to 2013. According to Darrell Gallagher, Head of Studio at Crystal Dynamics, when Crystal Dynamics first set out to reboot the Tomb Raider franchise, there were two goals that they were extremely passionate about. The first was to create a modern Tomb Raider game that would surprise and excite gamers. Tomb Raider ‘unique location-based adventures’ coming from Crystal Dynamics and Geocaching.com

Crystal Dynamics, a Square Enix studio, announced today that it is working with Geocaching.com, a Groundspeak project as part of its campaign for the upcoming release of TOMB RAIDER. Geocaching represents a rapidly growing community of over 5 million participants seeking over 1.6 million active geocaches hidden globally in locations such as Times Square, the Berlin Wall, and Great Wall of China. Tomb Raider will only use QTE’s to deliver an intense and cinematic experience but won’t be overused

Let’s be honest, even though Tomb Raider was one of the best games at Microsoft’s Conference in this year’s E3, those damn quick-time events worried us. Yeah, they added to the atmosphere but we want to play a game and not watch a movie. Was the game following Heavy Rain’s example? Apparently not, as Noah Hughes, creative director, stated that Tomb Raider won’t rely much on QTE’s. Square Enix released a ‘behind the scenes’ trailer for the latest part of the legendary Tomb Raider series. In this video, various members of Crystal Dynamics explain why the company decided to reboot the series, why the have chosen this ‘young’ Lara and how they made contact with Square Enix.
