Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag – PC Performance Analysis

Assassins Creed IV Black Flag

Last month, we had the pleasure to interview Ubisoft who confirmed that Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag would be better optimized on the PC than its predecessor. As Ubisoft claimed, the scheduler used for the rendering was ‘rewritten from the ground up and in AC4, the engine will use all the cores it needs until it sees that using more cores brings no more gain.’ Well, it appears that information was incorrect as Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag is plagued by performance issues and runs identical on tricore and quadcore CPUs. Not only that but the performance difference between a dualcore and a quadcore is around 5fps at best. Continue reading Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag – PC Performance Analysis

Splinter Cell – Extraction Is A Great Live-Action Fan Film With Lots Of Lens Flares

Splinter Cell v2

Aris Juson has informed us about a new live action fan film based on Splinter Cell: Blacklist. This film is twelve minutes long and follows a covert agent who infiltrates an Engineer stronghold to rescue his partner. The overall acting is surprisingly well and I’d love to see more short films – that are based on video-games – from these guys. Seriously now, it’s a polished and well executed short film. The only downside is that they have overused anamorphic lens-flares and I believe we can all say that JJ Abrams wants them back. Apart from that, Splinter Cell – Extraction is a fan film that you really need to check out! Continue reading Splinter Cell – Extraction Is A Great Live-Action Fan Film With Lots Of Lens Flares

South Park: The Stick of Truth – Seven Minutes Gameplay Trailer, Delayed To March 2014

South Park

Ubisoft has released a new gameplay trailer for South Park: The Stick of Truth and revealed that the game has been delayed for all platforms. As the company notes, in their latest adventure, the South Park boys embark on a quest to the Inn of the Giggling Donkey, an infamous tavern that harbors the scum of all the realm. South Park: The Stick of Truth looks really interesting. Now I’ll be honest here; I was not looking forward to this title. I mean, I like South Park but I didn’t expect Obsidian to manage to pull it off and stay so close to the cartoon. And after watching this latest gameplay trailer, I really want to see more of it. So that’s good I guess. The game is now planned for a March 4th release. Enjoy!
