New Unity GDC 2016 Tech Demo Shows Impressive Visuals

Unity has released a new impressive tech demo video, showing off what its engine can actually achieve. According to the team, this is the first part of its real-time rendered short film “Adam”, created with the Unity engine by Unity’s Demo team. Super Mario 64 HD Unity Remake – New Version Sports HDR, Specular Bump Mapping & Improved Lighting

A couple of days ago, we informed you about a fan-made remake of the first level from Super Mario 64 in the Unity Engine. Reddit’s member ‘varietygamer‘ has experimented with its source code and released a new overhauled version of it. This new version packs improved lighting and shadows, HDR + Depth of Field + Edge Shading, Volumetric Clouds, Specular Bump mapping on most textures and high resolution landscape textures. Super Mario 64 – First Level Recreated in Unity Engine, Playable in Your Browser

Roystan Ross has recreated the first level of Super Mario 64 in the Unity Engine, and has released it for free to everyone. Yeap, you can actually play this recreation, something that is undoubtedly cool. What’s even more amazing is that this level is playable in your browser, meaning that you won’t have to download anything at all (though there is still an option for a desktop version in case you want one). Unreal Engine 4 Versus Unity 4.5.5 – Temple Tech Demo Comparison

YouTube’s member ‘KoHApaT’ has shared a video showing Unreal Engine 4’s Temple tech demo recreated in Unity 4.5.5. This map was recreated by Boris Novikov and KoHApaT added some more effects to it. This recreation can give you an idea between the differences of UE4 and Unity. Do note that Unity 5 is said to be even more versatile and powerful than Unity 4. Also note that while the UE4 demo was created by an entire team, the Unity 4 adaptation was handled by a single person. For comparison purposes, we’ve also included the Unreal Engine 4 demo. Enjoy!
