Batman: Arkham Origins – SweetFX vs Vanilla Comparison

Batman Arkham Origins v3

As we said in our Performance Analysis, Batman: Arkham Origins looks great for a multi-platform title. However, the inclusion of TXAA brings an additional layer of blurriness that Nvidia users have to deal with. Well, not anymore. Thanks to SweetFX, PC gamers can enjoy crisp graphics, even by using this blurry AA technique (that does an amazing job at eliminating jaggies mind you, so there is still a reason to actually use it). In order to overhaul the game’s visuals, we added a bit sharpening, boosted the game’s shadows and retained its dark atmosphere, added more color to give it a more cinematic look, and enhanced the lighting system. The end result is – at least in our opinion – great and makes the game look way better than its vanilla version. Continue reading Batman: Arkham Origins – SweetFX vs Vanilla Comparison

Batman: Arkham Origins – PC Performance Analysis

Batman Arkham Origins

Batman: Arkham Origins is a title we’ve been looking forward to, and that’s primarily because we wanted to see whether Warner Montreal would optimize the game’s PC version or not. Would the game suffer from stuttering issues? Would the game run as awful as its predecessor, Arkham City? And would its PhysX effects bring current gen systems to their knees? Thankfully, we can now answer all those questions. Continue reading Batman: Arkham Origins – PC Performance Analysis

Batman: Arkham Origins Now Available, Nvidia Releases Graphics & Performance Guide

Batman Arkham Origins v3

Batman: Arkham Origins has just been released, and Nvidia’s Andrew Iain Burnes has informed us about an interesting article that covers the graphical settings of it. Batman: Arkham Origins supports tessellation (for Batman’s cape and snow), a new DOF technique, TXAA, PhysX effects, HBAO+ and Percentage Closer Soft Shadows. According to Andrew, only PhysX and TXAA are exclusive to Nvidia cards (and HBAO+ as its an Nvidia technique), meaning that all other techniques should work with other GPUs.
