Now here is a great find. Guru3D’s user ‘gerardfraser’ decided to try Mafia 2’s apex.dll file and see whether or not he could gain any performance boost with it in Batman: Arkham City. Apparently, there is a nice performance jump as the user witnessed a 20fps boost from using this apex.dll file. In other words, this is a must-have file for those that wanted some of the PhysX effects, but were put off by its atrocious performance. It seems that Rocksteady is currently working on a new PC patch for Batman: Arkham City, as Steam had accidentally released yesterday its preliminary version. So, if you were unlucky enough to try and play your game, you’d notice major game-breaking issues. Moreover, GFWL was not working properly with that preliminary patch and the game was – pretty much – unplayable. Naturally, Steam released a rollback update and the game is now back to its previous, stable state. Continue reading Rocksteady is working on a new PC patch for Batman: Arkham City→
Okay, this is a game for which we really wanted to write a performance analysis. Given the fact that Rocksteady was preparing a patch for it, we decided to hold off and see whether the update would introduce any performance boost to the DX9 path. Unfortunately though, Batman: Arkham City is an un-optimized mess when it comes to its PhysX implementation. In other words, Rocksteady relied on PC’s additional raw power to overcome any performance issues. This is not shocking at all as Rocksteady used an old version of the PhysX SDK. But let’s start with our analysis, shall we? Continue reading Batman: Arkham City PC Performance Analysis→

Now that’s hilarious. PC gamers have been patiently waiting for the DX11 patch of Batman: Arkham City and it appears that someone inside Rocksteady decided to actually leak it. We obviously can’t share links for it but you can definitely find it – if you try hard enough. As promised, the patch comes with some DX11 optimizations and this time around, the game won’t be crawling with single digit FPS numbers. This basically means that the average framerate is higher in the in-game benchmark. Continue reading Batman: Arkham City’s highly anticipated DX11 patch has been leaked→
By now you must have already heard that the DX11 mode of Batman: Arkham City is bugged. However, things are not looking good even for those that want to enjoy Rocksteady’s latest offering with Nvidia’s PhysX effects. Guru3D’s user ‘MfA’ shared some interesting graphs that showcase an enormous performance hit when PhysX effects are enabled. This is something we’ve discussed in the past as Batman: Arkham City doesn’t take advantage of the PhysX SDK 3.0 and MfA’s graphs show exactly what is wrong with all previous PhysX SDK versions. With the recent news about the delay of the console patch for Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection, we began wondering; what ever happened to the PC version of the game that was supposed to be out one month after the console releases? To our surprise, there isn’t any store – digital or retail – that has the PC version and to make things worse, Ed Boon himself said – a few days ago – that there never was a PC version of this arcade collection. Continue reading Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection won’t be coming to the PC after all→
Batman: Arkham City has just been released for the PC and although Rocksteady had a full month to tweak their game, it appears that the current build features a bugged DX11 mode. In other words, the DX11 path is causing performance issues and that’s something that Warner Bros has officially acknowledged. In order to avoid these issues, players are required to run the game in DX9 mode for the time being. Continue reading Batman: Arkham City – DX11 Path is bugged; Rocksteady is working on a patch→
Today is the day for all PC Batman fans out there, as Rocksteady’s action third person has finally been released on Steam – at least in North and South America. Batman: Arkham City comes with some exclusive PC features, like hardware PhysX, DX11 and support for Nvidia’s 3D Vision, and is priced at 49.99 euros.
