Another week, another video about the changes that were made to Wolfire Games’ action-brawling adventure game, Overgrowth. This week, David Rosen added weight maps to control detail objects density, enabled object mirroring, changed how models are stored in memory for better stability. Overgrowth takes place in the savage world of Lugaru where rabbits, wolves and other animals are forced to use paws, claws and medieval weaponry to engage each other in battle. Wolfire Games released a new video in which David Rosen showcases the changes that have been made to Overgrowth latest alpha version. Overgrowth now features a better enemy AI and enemies can now investigate the sound noices. In addition, David fixed a lot of bugs that plagued Overgrowth, such as occasional crashes, the decals on detail-mapped objects that were not shown and a problem with false positive visiblity checks. This LOD system is mind-blowing and carefully developed and as a result of that, you won’t easily notice the different levels of quality that this LOD system introduces.
