Arisu, the author behind the amazing TESV Acceleration Layer tool, posted in Bethesda’s forum some interesting notes about his tool and how it works. It’s really complicated, so we won’t go into full details but what caught our eye was the author’s claim that Skyrim would probably experience a speed gain of over 100% if it was properly optimized. According to Arisu, this is no exaggeration as the compiled code is simply bad. Don’t believe it? Then let us tell you that the TESV Acceleration Layer doesn’t modify even nearly 1% of the code, but still manages to cut the cycles per frame by 30-40%. Imagine what would happen with proper optimization. Continue reading Author of TESV Acceleration Layer: “Skyrim would probably experience a speed gain of over 100%”→
God, I love modders. I’m pretty sure that everyone has noticed slowdowns when entering Skyrim’s cities and where there are a lot of NPC’s. Have you ever wondered what was the culprit and caused that performance hit? Apparently, it was due to un-optimization as modder Arisu released a mod – that is currently compatible only with the 1.3.10 version of Skyrim – that offers up to 40% performance boost on both high-end and low-end machines. And get this right; it really does work. So yeah, this is a must-have mod for every Skyrim player. Now that’s just… weird and funny at the same time. FancyPantz has replaced the spiders’ skin with the one of our friendly neighborhood Spiderman. Contrary to other attempts, FancyPantz’s work has been weighted to the spider’s skeleton. All animations should function properly for the most part, though it looks weird as hell. The arms and legs have been rigged (roughly) to four of the spider’s legs. Moreover, sounds have been replaced with recordings from the ‘Baman Piderman’ web series. Hayssam Keilany released some comparison shots between his iCEnhancer mod for Skyrim and the game’s vanilla version. Now before jumping to early conclusions, this mod is still in development and in the alpha stage, so lots of things/features/colors could be changed. Overall, it looks good and there are some great improvements in some scenes. On the other hand though, some scenes are too saturated and others need more tweaking. Still, iCEnhancer is on the right path. As always, Skyrim vanilla is on the left whereas Skyrim modded is on the right! Continue reading iCEnhancer Skyrim – New Comparison Shots Released→
