THQ Nordic announced that it will release a free demo for Gothic 1 Remake on February 24th. Gothic 1 Remake is powered by Unreal Engine 5, and its upcoming demo will let you explore Nyras Prologue.
What’s interesting to note is that this demo is not a part of the game. Instead, this is a special demo that aims to showcase the world, mechanics, and atmosphere of the remake.
In this demo, you will take on the role of Nyras, a convict thrown into the Colony. The story will be only loosely connected to the full game, and it will allow you to explore the Colony at your own pace. This prologue takes place before the events of Gothic 1, setting the stage for the Nameless Hero’s legendary journey.
Although the demo will be available on February 24th, some influencers got access to it a bit earlier. So, you can find below a 30-minute gameplay video from it. This video will give you an idea of what you can expect from it.
To capture this gameplay footage, YouTube’s “ENFANT TERRIBLE” used an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090. Sadly, though, he did not include any performance overlay program. Plus, he did not show the graphics settings, so we don’t know the setting he used. On the other hand, Cycu1 ran the demo on an NVIDIA RTX 4080. At 4K/Cinematic settings, that GPU was pushing 20FPS.
I’ll be sure to test the demo on my PC system when it comes out. So, expect some performance impressions as soon as I get my hands on it.
Enjoy and stay tuned for more!
