Bungie has just released the first in-engine teaser trailer for its upcoming game, MARATHON. Moreover, the team revealed that it will share the first gameplay trailer for it on April 12th.
MARATHON will be a sci-fi PVP extraction shooter. Players will assume the role of a cybernetic mercenary venturing into the unknown in a fight for survival and fortune.
Now I have to be honest here. I’m not a fan of extraction shooters. Not only that, but I’m not that impressed by the visuals I see in this teaser trailer. So, this isn’t a game that sparks my interest.
In my opinion, this could be a big hit or a colossal failure. After all, we’ve seen numerous PvP games biting the dust these past few years. On the other hand, this is a game by Bungie. So, we can assume that the gameplay and shooting mechanics will be great.
It’s a shame this new Marathon game is a PvP extraction shooter. The first Marathon games were single-player experiences. So, you’d expect a new Marathon game to be an SP. But, after Destiny’s success, Bungie is going all in with its online games. So, it will be interesting to see whether this gamble will pay off.
There is currently no ETA for when Marathon will come out. Naturally, though, we’ll be sure to keep you posted.
Enjoy the teaser and stay tuned for more!
