Studio Wildcard has released the first in-engine trailer for its upcoming remake of ARK: Survival Evolved in Unreal Engine 5, ARK: Survival Ascended.
ARK: Survival Ascended was originally meant to come out in August 2023. However, in July 2023, the developers decided to delay it until October 2023. Ironically, we’re in the middle of October and we still don’t know when this game will come out. And no, this latest trailer does not feature any release date. Instead, we got a “Coming Soon” at the end of it. So yeah, don’t expect to be playing it in 2023.
From what we know so far, ARK: Survival Ascended will be using UE5’s Nanite, Lumen and RTXDI. Thus, it will be interesting to see how it will fare against its original version. It will also be interesting to see how costly these features will be.
Games that are currently using both Nanite and Lumen require a lot of PC hardware power. Immortals of Aveum, Lords of the Fallen and Fort Solis require high-end GPUs, especially for gaming at resolutions higher than 1440p. Let’s also not forget that the original ARK had numerous performance and optimization issues. So, I don’t really know whether Studio Wildcard will be able to deliver a solid PC product.
Enjoy and stay tuned for more!
