Half Life 2 fans, here is something special for you today. YouTube’s ‘Vergil’ has been working on a fan remake of the classic Half Life 2 game in Unreal Engine 4, and released a video showing 4 minutes of gameplay footage.
Vergil has basically put the original Half-Life 2 Source Engine assets into Unreal Engine 4 and polished various things in order to make it look more pleasing to the eye. The end result is amazing and stays true to the original vision.
As Vergil noted, this is still a work in progress project, meaning that the final version may look better than it. Currently players can interact with their environment, though there aren’t any NPCs or enemies to fight. We also don’t know whether Vergil will release this project to the public once it’s complete.
Still, this fan remake of Half Life 2 in Unreal Engine 4 looks really cool so be sure to watch it!

While he is a die-hard PC gamer, his gaming roots can be found on consoles. John loved – and still does – the 16-bit consoles, and considers SNES to be one of the best consoles. Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2.
