YouTube’s ‘DudeRandom84’ has shared two videos, showing Far Cry 5 and Sea of Thieves running in glorious 8K resolution. In Far Cry 5, DudeRandom84 used the game’s Ultra preset whereas in Sea of Thieves he used some custom settings (a mix of Mythical and Common settings).
DudeRandom84 used two NVIDIA GeForce GTX1080Ti in Far Cry 5 and as we can see, Ubisoft’s game was able to run with 30fps. It’s pretty clear that 8K will not be mainstream anytime soon. On the other hand, Sea of Thieves ran with 20-27fps on a single GTX1080Ti in 8K.
As said, 8K is a resolution that most gamers won’t be able to use for a while. Still, these videos are really cool and can give you an idea of what a monstrous GPU is required to run these latest games in this ridiculously high resolution.
Enjoy!

While he is a die-hard PC gamer, his gaming roots can be found on consoles. John loved – and still does – the 16-bit consoles, and considers SNES to be one of the best consoles. Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2.
