YouTube’s ‘Digital Dreams’ has shared a video, showcasing Horizon Zero Dawn running in 8K/Extreme Settings on an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090.
In order to capture this gameplay footage, the YouTuber used an AMD Ryzen 9 7950X with a Samsung EVO 970 SSD and 32GB of DDR5 RAM at 6000Mhz.
As with most of their video, Digital Dreams also used the BeyondallLimits Reshade Ray Tracing. This custom Reshade adds RT Global Illumination, which can noticeably improve the graphics of games that do not have native Ray Tracing effects.
From the looks of it, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 can run the game smoothly at 8K. Or at least it does not drop below 30fps. Since Digital Dreams has not included any overlay tool, it’s really hard to guess the actual framerate. While panning the camera, we can definitely see really smooth movement. So, I guess the RTX 4090 can run Horizon Zero Dawn with 60fps at 8K.
It’s also worth noting that Horizon Zero Dawn supports NVIDIA DLSS 2. Since the YouTuber has not shown the graphics settings, we are not certain whether they are using it or not.
Regardless of whether Digital Dreams used an upscaling technique, this video does the game justice. Horizon Zero Dawn never looked better, and can still offer some truly amazing graphics. And now, imagine how good Horizon Forbidden West will look on PC once it comes out. I know, I know, Aloy is not one of the most beloved characters. And that DLC alternative ending of its sequel really rubbed a lot of the game’s fans the wrong way. However, I really enjoyed the gameplay of the first title. So yeah, I’m personally looking forward to it.
Lastly, and speaking of 8K videos, you may be also interested in these other videos. For instance, here are Just Cause 3, GTA 5 and Crysis 3 running in 8K. You can also find The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and Skyrim in 8K. Let’s also not forget the 8K videos for Red Dead Redemption 2, Batman Arkham Knight, Battlefield 1 & Metal Gear Solid 5, as well as Diablo 3, Battlefield Bad Company 2, COD: Modern Warfare, RIDE 4, Halo Remaster, Forza Horizon 5, The Witcher 3, Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Monster Hunter Rise and Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.
Enjoy this 8K gameplay video of Horizon Zero Dawn, and stay tuned for more!
