Skyrim Windhelm Unreal Engine 5.4

Here’s Skyrim’s Windhelm in Unreal Engine 5 with Lumen & Nanite

A few days ago, Leo Torres shared a video, showcasing Windhelm from The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim in Unreal Engine 5.4. This video will give you an idea of what a modern-day remake of Skyrim could look like in UE5.

This video is part of an ongoing project to visualize a more realistic and lore-accurate scale of Tamriel’s cities. As such, Windhelm now has sixteen times the detail it had in Skyrim. The purpose of this project was to get a large-scale concept of what a city of this size would really be like in real life.

To make this video, the artist used a mix of third-party models and custom assets. The custom assets were made in Blender and textured in Mixer. All models and plants use Nanite, and Lumen was used for lighting and reflections.

The end result, as you will see, is phenomenal. This is exactly what a Skyrim Remake should look like. So, I’m curious to see whether The Elder Scrolls 6 will be able to match these graphics. TES6 will most likely come out on current-gen and next-gen platforms. Still, I’m not sure whether we’ll be able to get close to what we see here.

I also recommend watching the other Skyrim UE5 videos the artist has shared. So far, Torres has recreated MarkarthBlackreachWhiterunSolitudeWinterholdFalkreath, Riften and Morthal.

As with all the other videos from Torres, this one was created for portfolio purposes. So no. You can’t download and experience it on your PC. That’s a bummer but hey, it is what it is.

Speaking of Unreal Engine 5, you should also check out the following fan projects. For instance, you can find some faithful remasters of Dark Souls and Dark Souls 3, which are super cool. A few months ago, we also shared an amazing remake of Toy Story 2. Then there’s this cool fan remake of Metal Gear Solid. You should also watch the full-on remake video for Final Fantasy 9, and this HD-2D Fan Remake for Xenogears.

Need for Speed Carbon and Tony Hawk’s Underground have also received some cool remakes. Oh, and there is a fan remake of Tomb Raider The Last Revelation, featuring Angelina Jolie and Christoph Walz. And if that’s not enough, there are fan remakes for Star Wars: Republic CommandoDeath StrandingFallout 4, Grand Theft Auto 4Need for Speed: Most WantedFallout 4Resident Evil 1, and Silent Hill 3’s Lakeside Amusement Park.
