Ubisoft has just announced a new 2D action roguelite installment in the Prince of Persia series, The Rogue Prince of Persia. Developed by Evil Empire, this new Prince of Persia game will be released on May 14th, and it will be available at launch on Steam.
In this game, players will lead the Prince in his fight against a Hun army corrupted by dark shamanic magic. Players will also have to find their place in the royal family as they explore a vibrant reinterpretation of Persia. The game will have puzzles to solve, as well as new areas to discover. Additionally, you’ll meet a cast of colorful characters through non-linear story progression.
The Rogue Prince of Persia will feature amazing 2D visuals with incredibly smooth animations. In the game, you’ll be able to switch between jumping around platforms and fighting enemies using cool moves. You’ll be able to run on walls to find new ways to fight, escape traps, and reach hidden places. Also, you can kick and dodge to handle groups of enemies when things get tough.
Players will be able to choose from a variety of deadly weapons and equip new medallions each run to unleash devastating effects. This will give you the freedom to change your fighting style as you wish. The game will also offer secondary weapons for even more options. You’ll be able to use bows, shields or even grappling hooks as secondary weapons. And yes, you’ll be able to unlock new weapons and medallions.
Now while I love the art style of this Prince of Persia game, I don’t like at all its genre. You see, I hate the roguelite/roguelike games. So yeah, this isn’t a game for me. Still, those smooth animations look so sleek. In a way, they reminded me of Aladdin in the SEGA Mega Drive and the incredible work that Disney did back in the 16-bit days.
As said, Ubisoft will release The Rogue Prince of Persia on May 14th. And, alongside its debut trailer, you can also find below its PC requirements. As you will see, this game will run on a wide range of PCs. Ubisoft recommends an NVIDIA GTX 1060 or an AMD Radeon RX 5600XT.
