It’s been a year since we last saw Neo Berlin 2087. And, earlier today, Elysium Game Studio released the Gamescom 2024 trailer for its third-person/first-person action RPG.
Neo Berlin 2087 is powered by Unreal Engine 5, and promiseto be a deep, cinematic detective thriller. In this game, players will solve a far-reaching conspiracy on an emotional cyberpunk journey about justice, friendship, love, guilt, sacrifice and betrayal.
In a way, this trailer shows off the benefits of UE5. While the game’s animations are a bit rough, its visuals look great. At least for the most part.
Now what I mean by saying that the trailer showcases the benefits of UE5 is quite simple. Elysium Game Studio is a really small studio. So, the fact that they’re able to create a game that can look this good speaks volumes about the capabilities of Unreal Engine 5.
While Neo Berlin 2087 looks great, you should never consider it a triple-A game. It may look like one. However, this is a double-A title. In short, you can’t compare it with something like Deus Ex Human Revolution. That game had a HUGE budget behind it. You also can’t expect it to be as polished as what we get from Activision, Ubisoft, or even Square Enix.
Speaking of Deus Ex, I can’t stop laughing at the voice acting of the main protagonist. It’s SO OBVIOUS that they tried to mimic Adam Jensen. Still, since the game appears to be drawing inspiration from Deus Ex and Blade Runner, I can’t really blame them.
So, for what it is, Neo Berlin 2087 looks great. Just make sure to temper your expectations. This won’t be the next best thing. Still, it may provide a fun single-player experience.
There is currently no ETA on when Neo Berlin 2087 will come out. Naturally, though, we’ll be sure to keep you posted.
Enjoy the trailer and stay tuned for more!
