YouTube’s ‘Shemne’ has shared a video, showcasing what an HD-2D Remake of Pokemon Black and White could have looked like. To create this fan remake, the artist used Unreal Engine 5 and created most of the sprites by himself.
The end result is pretty amazing, and I’m sure a lot of Pokemon fans will find it cool. This HD-2D fan remake will immediately remind you of Octopath Traveler. And, well, that was its main goal.
This isn’t the first HD-2D fan remake we’ve shared. Earlier this month, we shared a video that showcased an HD-2D fan remake of Xenogears in Unreal Engine 5. So, if you haven’t watched it yet, I strongly recommend doing so.
From what I know, the artist does not plan to release this fan project to the public. In other words, this was created for portfolio purposes. Still, it looks lovely and, honestly, I’d love to see such a remake of all the older Pokemon games.
Speaking of Unreal Engine 5, you should also check out the following fan projects. For instance, you can find some faithful remasters of Dark Souls and Dark Souls 3, which are super cool. A few months ago, we also shared an amazing remake of Toy Story 2. Then there’s this fantastic fan remake of STALKER that’s worth a look. Need for Speed Carbon and Tony Hawk’s Underground have also received some cool remakes. Oh, and there is a fan remake of Tomb Raider The Last Revelation, featuring Angelina Jolie and Christoph Walz. And if that’s not enough, there are fan remakes for Star Wars: Republic Commando, Death Stranding, Fallout 4, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim’s Solitude, Grand Theft Auto 4, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, Fallout 4, Resident Evil 1, Skyrim’s Winterhold and Silent Hill 3’s Lakeside Amusement Park. There is also this Studio Ghibli stylized teaser for Zelda: Ocarina of Time in Unreal Engine 5. So, lots of UE5 fan remakes, right? Well, since they’re all really cool, we suggest giving them a watch.
