Versus Evil and Daedalic Entertainment have released new gameplay trailers for their upcoming horror games, REVEIL and Stray Souls.
Stray Souls will be using Unreal Engine 5 and promises to have classic horror combat with Soulslike precision. Furthermore, Stray Souls will attempt to put a fresh spin on the modern action-horror genre.
Now I have to be honest here. I wasn’t really impressed by anything I saw in this gameplay trailer. I know, I know, this is a game from a small team. However, the trailer is nowhere close to what the developers have promised.
On the other hand, REVEIL is a narrative first-person psycho-thriller game that focuses on story, puzzles and exploration. The game promises to offer a deeply psychological experience that will keep you questioning everything. REVEIL will be powered by the Unity Engine and will have five playable acts in different, carefully designed environments.
From the looks of it, REVEIL won’t have any combat mechanics. So yeah, this may feel like a walking simulator with puzzles. And, if the story is interesting, I won’t really mind that. But yes, it will all come down to the story and if people hated Fort Solis, then I’m pretty sure they won’t like this one too.
Anyway, enjoy the trailers and stay tuned for more!
