Nintendo has just released Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD on Nintendo Switch. And, as you may have guessed, the latest version of the Nintendo Switch emulator, Ryujinx, can already run the game.
Now what’s interesting here is that there is already a 60fps mod for it. For those who did not know, the game is locked at 30fps on Nintendo Switch. As such, by using this 60fps mod, PC gamers can actually get a better gaming experience on their PC via emulation.
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen this happening. A lot of the latest Nintendo Switch releases are locked at 30fps. Thankfully, modders have figured out ways to unlock the Nintendo Switch games, making them feel better on PC.
Games like Red Dead Redemption, Bayonetta 3, Monster Hunter Rise, Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition, and Pikmin 4 were all playable on PC as soon as they came out. So, this shouldn’t really come as a surprise. Ryujinx is currently in a pretty solid state. In May 2024, this emulator was also able to run Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door Remake.
You can go ahead and download the latest version of Ryujinx from its official website. As for the other Nintendo Switch emulators, Suyu and Nuzu, they may also be able to run it. We haven’t tested them, though, so we don’t know for sure.
Finally, here is a video showcasing Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD running on Ryujinx 1.1.1340 with the 60fps mod. To capture this gameplay footage, reznoire used an Intel Core i9-14900K with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090. And, as you can see, the RTX 4090 has no trouble at all running the game with constant 60fps. GPU usage is constantly below 50%. Again, this shows the massive hardware gap between Nintendo Switch and PC.
It will be interesting to see what will happen with Nintendo Switch 2. Will Nintendo up its game and better secure its console? Or will we see emulators hitting the Internet in the blink of an eye?
Enjoy and stay tuned for more!
