Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 – Unofficial PC Port vs PS5 Comparison Video

YouTube’s ‘Combative 117’ has shared a comparison video between the PS5 and the latest version of the unofficial PC port of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. And, the results are quite impressive.

Now as you will see, the images are a bit low-res. The purpose of this video though is not to compare the textures. Its main purpose is to show how close to the PS5 version the unofficial PC port actually is.

I could spot some surfaces that still lack their original textures. And the water looks worse than the one in PS5. For the most part, though, the unofficial PC port is almost identical to the PS5 version.

Speaking of the water, the team behind the PC port will be adding Ray Tracing in its next build. This should greatly improve the quality of reflections. As such, the water and the tall buildings will look better.

Again, it’s really impressive what this modding team has managed to create. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 PC Brazil is based on the PC dev build that was leaked in December 2023. The team has basically reverse-engineered the entire game. And yes, you can play it from start to finish.

As I’ve already reported, the latest version of the game no longer stutters like crazy. So, on a high-end PC system, you can have a smooth gaming experience. However, there are still some graphical glitches.

In case you’re wondering, no. I still don’t believe it’s worth trying it. Once the team adds the RT reflections and fixes most of its visual glitches, it will be at an enjoyable stage. We are getting there though. By the end of 2024, I expect this unofficial PC port to be really polished, and on par in every way with the PS5 version. Also, let’s hope that we’ll get support for DLSS or FSR.

Finally, Sony hasn’t revealed anything official about bringing Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 to PC. Still, we should expect it to hit the PC in FY 2025. Or at least that’s what the recent Insomniac leak hinted at.

Stay tuned for more!
