YouTube’s ‘ElAnalistaDeBits’ has shared a new interesting video. This video compares a lot of areas from Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 and 2020 with their real-life locations. And, as you will see, Flight Simulator 2024 is perhaps one of the most photorealistic games to date.
In MSFS 2024, the devs have increased the detail of its virtual environment by a factor of 4,000. For instance, the ground will no longer be a mere heightfield. Instead, it will now have tiny stones, rocks, gravel and grass. Players can also expect better sky and atmospheric lighting, especially during sunrise and sunset. There will also be new cloud types like cirrus clouds which will better simulate the highest levels of our atmosphere. Not only that, but the game’s dynamic weather has also seen some improvements. As such, storms and other weather phenomena will now look much more realistic and impressive to fly through.
To its credit, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 still looks great. However, the new lighting system in MSFS 2024 makes it look even better. From what I can see, Asobo has completely changed the 3D models for the trees. It has also made some tweaks and changes in some of the cities.
My guess is that it will take one or two generations until the in-game graphics of MSFS can be indistinguishable from the real thing. Still, even in its current state, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is a graphical powerhouse. This is a game you can be proud of owning a high-end PC system.
Microsoft launched MSFS 2024 last week, and its launch was a complete disaster. Players were unable to log in to the game due to server issues. Basically, it was impossible to play the game. Asobo has been working on fixes all these days. On November 27th, Asobo stated that it was able to resolve all the access and streaming issues. The distribution layer capacity has been increased to handle the immense interest in the simulator and the reliability is now above 99.999%.
For what it’s worth, the game now has Mixed Reviews on Steam (it previously had Overwhelmingly Negative Reviews). This means that you can at least now launch and play it.
